Keeping Our Community Safe

As Crime Prevention Officer, I have made sure that all the streetlights on the busier roads are working. Our patrol officers have gone up and down each street made a note of each streetlight not working and we have called NStar. NStar is already on the job replacing the burnt out bulbs and repairing the broken lights.

As you know, crime prevention takes more than a few people helping. We need everyone to take part in making crime prevention a continuous effort here in our community. I have set up a streetlight listing in the station to have streetlights that are not working to be reported to NStar and therefore fixed. If you find a streetlight in your neighborhood that is not working, please call our dispatchers (781-275-1212) and give them the street name and telephone pole number. If you are able, would you please let them know the nature of the problem e.g. just out, flickers on and off, or any other problem.

Crime Prevention works in many ways. To keep us safe and secure, we must not only work together and keep an eye out for each other, but we must ‘think’ crime prevention. Let’s not let the little things slide by the wayside. Everyone should take part in keeping Bedford the safe community it is.

Thank you for your time and your efforts.
